Kyanite crystal is a rare mineral that is usually formed under extremely high pressure within metamorphic rocks. It occurs most commonly as shards of deep cerulean blue crystal but can vary in coloration between black, grey, turquoise, and ocean blue. It is unusually hard for a bladed crystal, measuring anywhere between 4.5 and 7 on the Mohs Hardness Scale
